September Notes

The meeting was held on Sept 13, 2018.  The meeting was called to order by President Eileen Van Dyk.  The secretary report was read.  Cindy Peer moved to accept the meeting minutes from August.  Seconded by Mary Lou Curtis.  Approved.   The treasurer report was given by Bridget.  Patsy moved to accept the treasurer report.  Lynn Rude seconded it.  Approved.  Bridget stated she will be sending out a spreadsheet with further breakdown of the budget later this month.

Charm packs were on the table at the meeting.  They were free for the taking as long as you bring back to the next meeting something pieced together from the charm pack.  You may add any additional fabric to the charm pack that you wish.   It will be fun to see what returns next month.

Committee Reports
Quilt Show – Patsy stated we need to people to sign up for working the show and to help set up the show starting on Friday at 12:30 at WITC.  Betty’s sons will be delivering the quilt racks to us at WITC at that time.  Please bring hammers, pliers, step ladders, and vice grips to help with setting up the racks.  The food court will be open on Sat. only from 8-2.  We also need quilting props to decorate at the quilt show.  Please bring them on Friday as well.   Barb will be collecting and displaying the Paint Chip Challenge.  The class on Saturday at the show had 12 people signed up so far.  Eileen encouraged everyone at the meeting to sign up for the class as she felt they would really enjoy it.  The Raffle baskets proceeds will be divided between THUG (Totally Humble Under God – for homeless teens in St. Croix Cty) and the guild voted on the other charity to be the Back-Pack Program.  The was moved by Cindy Peer and seconded by Barb Rogers.  Betty Schmit brought up the fact of our quilt racks for the show are heavy and are aging.  She volunteered to look into lighter racks for the future.  She will report back with more information later.

Caring Quilts – Linda Andert picked up a bunch of caring quilts that were quilted by Jean at Topstitchery.  They need to be bound yet.  Some of them were taken home by members to complete the binding.  The caring quilts are not housed at JoDee Johnston’s house in case you need to pick any up for delivery.

Retreat – There is still openings for both the weekend and weekday retreat dates.  The 2nd half of the fee for the retreat is due at the October meeting.

Old Business – none
New Business – next month’s quilt guild meeting will be election of Officers for the upcoming year.  There was discussion about the upcoming opening of officers.  The following officer positions are open:

Vice President – programs – Hope is willing to do it another year
President-Elect – Tracy Vail is willing
Secretary – Sue Powers is willing
Thank you for all that are stepping up to volunteer for these positions.  It is very much appreciated.

Eileen asked us to be thinking about volunteering to do a demo to share with the guild and what month you would be willing to do it.  Patsy moved to adjourn the meeting.  It was seconded by Lynn Rude.
Show and Tell was enjoyed by everyone.  Thank you to the hostesses Cindy Peer, Judy Brust, and Mindy Newman.

Next month – Election of officers – discussion topic of Year End Evaluation – Program with Pre-cuts and Show and Tell made from pre-cuts – Hostess is Cheri Schmitt – if anyone is available to assist Cheri with being a hostess, please reach out to her – please note there is a quilting retreat that falls on the same evening as the Oct guild meeting.  In fact, I will be at that retreat, so if someone could please take the minutes for me, I would appreciate it.  My personal email is:  jodeejohnston1978@gmail.com  hopefully this will making it more convenient to get the information to me.  Thank you.
